You’ve watched the news. You‘ve spoken with friends, family and co-workers. It wasn’t easy but you’ve made the decision to buy a gun for protection … Now what?

Are you having trouble deciding on a new handgun purchase?

Do you know the Federal and State requirements for purchase?

If the answer to the above is “No” Handgun 101 is the course for you!

Unlike other basic pistol courses, when you take Handgun 101 all you do is show up – we provide everything else!  – classroom instruction, guns, ammunition, eye and ear protection, targets, range time and coaching while shooting.

Our Course Objectives Are:

• Safe firearm handling.
• To recognize the 4 main types of handguns and how they function.
• Cleaning and maintenance.
• Proper shooting stance and grip.
• Unsighted fire.
• Safe storage practices and equipment.
• Safety around children.
• How to identify handgun ammunition.
• LIVE FIRE on the range!

Holster selection. An accessory selection like aftermarket triggers, sights, grips, and custom work.

Lots of hands-on classroom work followed by range time on one of D.E. Guns private training ranges.

The course is 4 hours but may take longer due to class size, weather, shooters individual limitations and other unforeseen factors. The instructor is not in a hurry, this is not one of those factory type handgun courses  – schedule accordingly.

The goal of Handgun 101 and our “Baby-Steps” Defensive Handgun Training Methodology is providing you with the beginning skills and information to make an informed firearm purchase. Then, once you’ve purchased your handgun and the equipment to carry it, you’re ready to take our next level defensive handgun course – Introduction to Self Defense Handgun.

Requirements:  

All students and observers must sign a range liability waiver.

Minimum age to attend the class is 9 years. The young person must have a parent or legal guardian in the class with them.

The parent/legal guardian must be at least 19 years of age.
